To help parents and their children plan their activities for March Break, here's a list of events happening in Oakville and area. MAPLE SYRIJP FESTIVAL The Maple Syrup Festival will be open at Bronte Creek Provincial Park, Burloak Road north of QEW, week ends and during March Break from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Featured will be tree taping, maple syrup and maple sugar candy making demonstrations, wagon rides, educa tion movies, syrup trail tours, tours of 19th century Spruce Lane Farmhouse, newborn farm animals, plus pancakes will be served with maple syrup and bacon. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for seniors, and $2 for kids 4 to 17, to a maximum of $12 per vehicle. Children under three are free. Pancakes cost $3 for a small order two pancakes; and $5 for a large meal - three pancakes. OAKVILLE M USEUM Why not bring your kids to enjoy something fun, something old, some thing new - an experience that they will cherish and actually appreciate. The O akville M useum guarantees your child will learn a little, laugh a lot and be supervised by professional and qualified education trainers. March 9, Drop In Activities ses sion for kids of all ages from 2 to 4 p.m., an afternoon where parents, grandparents and/or guardians can bring the kids to Oakville Museum and make four different crafts: Netclown, Corkbird, Pinwheel and Jet Glider. Cost is $6 and it's open to all ages. March 12, Friendship D ay , a work shop promoting importance o f friends, or how to be a good friend. It is also a creative workshop where the kids are part o f the m aking o f a large Friendship Wreath. The wreath will be made out o f hands, as each partici pant will trace their hands out on coloured paper, cut the drawn hand out and pin onto a collaborative Friendship W reath. Additional Friendship Crafts include the friend ship box, bracelet and worry doll. There will be a morning session from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and an afternoon session from 1 to 3:00 p.m. Cost is $15 and includes materials and snacks. Pre-registration is required. M arch 13, M usical Instruments Workshop, a creative session for the kids and is a great way to get the kids into that musical mode without really banging on those drums or turning up the bass. There's a choice of a morn ing session from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., or an afternoon session from 1 to 3 p.m. Cost is $ 15 and includes mate rials and snacks. Pre-registration is required. March 14, Suncatchers Workshop, a creative and inspirational session for children, where they can learn how to make a Suncatcher out of delicate tis sue paper, put the materials together and come home with their very own beautiful Suncatcher. The Suncatchers workshop is a good way to get the kids into that creative mode, or left brain thinking. There will be a morning ses sion from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and an afternoon session from 1 to 3:00 p.m. Cost is $15 and includes materials and snacks. Pre-registration is required. March 15, Beadmaking, children will get the opportunity to make a bead necklace and/or bead bracelet and a bead spider. The sense of accom plishment that your child will feel after this workshop will be priceless. There will be a morning session from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and an afternoon session from 1 to 3 p.m. Cost is $15 and includes materials and snacks. Pre-registration is required. M arch 16, Picture Frames fo r Preschoolers Workshop. Preschoolers 4 to 6 are invited to make frames out of Popsicle sticks and place their favourite photo in the frame. There will be a morning session from 10 to 11 a.m. Cost is $10 and includes materials and snacks. Pre registration is required. M arch 16, D rop In Creature Feature workshop for kids of all ages from 2 to 4 p.m. Activities for the afternoon include grouch in a can, crocodiles, and junk snake and finger puppets. Parents, grandparents and/or guardians are invited to drop by the Oakville Museum with the kids to enjoy an afternoon full of creature craft making that will keep the kids giggling.
