Children's Festival takes over Coronation as Madness ensues Downtown While Midnight Madness may be taking over Downtown Oakville this weekend, parents looking for something to do with their children, need only look to Coronation Park. The second annual Oakville Children's Festival will be held at the park Sunday (July 19). It runs 10 a.m.-4 p.m. (the park opens at 9 a.m.) and will feature performances by The Backyardigans Musical Playdate, Gadfly Dance and Cosima Grunsky. Additional shows taking place at the festival include Toopy & Binoo's Frank Meschkuleit, Zacada Circus, MOTUS O dance theatre, and Street Magician and Illusionist Ray Chance. The festival attracted more than 15,000 last year. It will also feature hands-on building and art activities, dance lessons, interactive shows, a skateboard ramp, face painting, a vintage fire truck, Oakville Hydro bucket rides, kids' play zone featuring Zorbit Sports and more. This year's food features will include the Kinsmen Club of Oakville pancake breakfast. Free bike parking will be available on-site. A free Oakville Transit shuttle service will run from the Halton Regional Centre, 1151 Bronte Rd., every five minutes from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. It will also stop at the Bronte GO Station. Admission is free and the event will take place rain or shine. Pets should remain at home. The park is at 1426 Lakeshore Rd. W.
