New Democrats across Canada are holding a Day of Action Saturday, Aug. 8 and Oakville riding federal NDP candidate Che Marville and the Oakville NDP are taking part. Door-to-door canvass The Day of Action will see a nation-wide door-to-door canvass for the 2015 federal election campaign. "It's the first time our party has organized a public event this large," said Marville in a press release. "With the NDP leading in national opinion polls, it's a great way to kick off what we know will be a very promising campaign." Organizers and volunteers are meeting at GN Studio, located at 123 Lakeshore Rd., W., at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Anyone who wants to attend is welcome. Out to meet voters "Campaigning door-to-door is a great way to meet voters, and gives them the opportunity to ask questions and discuss important issues like the economy, health care and the environment," said Elizabeth Underhill, official agent for the campaign. Seeking to gain more support in Oakville "Our party has received a significant level of support from voters in Oakville who are deeply concerned about Canada's future, and are becoming active in politics for the very first time." With the NDP's victory in May's Alberta provincial election, the Oakville NDP candidate says change is in the air, and anything is possible. "We're a grassroots organization consisting of people in Oakville from all walks of life who want to make a difference," said Marville. "Voters deserve a strong voice in Ottawa and a government that represents their concerns," added the candidate and Oakville resident.
