Most, if not all of the town's 43,000 woodland ash trees are now dead or dying. The town is following best forest management practices to remove dead and dying ash trees to reduce the risk to the public and to help our woodlands regrow. Over the next few weeks, as weather and ground conditions permit, tree removals will begin in: The Parkway 1 Joshua Creek Trail (North) East Joshua Creek Trail 2 (North) The Parkway 2 Woodlands and trails, or portions of them, will be temporarily closed as tree removals take place. Town staff will be available at the information tent at the Parkway - 1 woodland parking lot on Bayshire Drive, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, August 24 and Tuesday, August 25. Make Your Move Oakville, with support from the Ontario Sport and Recreation Communities Fund, is excited to offer Family Fitness on the Trails classes for a special fee. Register for all four weeks or just the individual weeks you want! Register the whole family or come on your own! Children (ages 8+) must be accompanied by an adult and all individuals must be registered to participate. Fees are per person and classes are suitable for all fitness levels. Make Your Move Oakville, with support from the Ontario Sport and Recreation Communities Fund, is excited to offer a variety of CANBIKE programs for a reduced fee. This special offer is available for a limited time only! Programs include: · Kids CAN-BIKE · CAN-BIKE Learn to Ride 1 for the Family and for Adults · CAN-BIKE Learn to Ride 2 for the Family, for Adults and for Seniors All classes take place at Iroquois Ridge Community Centre on Saturdays except CAN-BIKE Learn to Ride 2 for Seniors (ages 50+, and a Seniors Services membership required), which takes place at Oakville Seniors Centre on a Thursday afternoon. For Family programs, children (ages 8+) must be accompanied by an adult and all individuals (parent and child) must register. Program fee is per person. A bike in good working condition and a certified bike helmet are required for all courses. A bike and/or helmet may be provided by the Town of Oakville upon request up to one week in advance.
