While Fare Share's Thanksgiving food drive of cially ended last Sunday, thanks to local schools and groups, donations are still coming in through to Halloween. Because of this outpour to help the less fortunate in the community, the Oakville food bank is extending its drive to Oct. 31 with food donations still be accepted at all local re stations, grocery stores and its 1240 Speers Rd., unit 6, headquarters. "It is important that we ll our warehouse, so we can last through the cold winter months and into the spring," according to Fare Share food bank volunteers. Monetary donations are also accepted as they Fare Share has extended its food drive until Halloween Do you are vital to the food bank's existence, according to Fare Share organizers. Donations are used to buy perishable food items, such as chicken, ground beef, ham, sh, cheese and fresh and frozen vegetables and fruit. As well, a large portion of the money pays for vouchers provided to families with children to use at local supermarkets for items, such as milk and eggs. Fare Share is a registered charity and can issue tax receipts for donations.
