A devoted and loving father and grandfather, he is also survived by his two sons, Christopher (Nancy) and Jeffrey (Beth) and granddaughters Rebecca, Sarah, Juliet and Margot. Allan grew up in the Beaches neighbourhood in Toronto, the adopted son of Edgar and Nellie Histed. During the Second World War, he served his country in the Royal Canadian Navy aboard the HMCS Barrie in the North Atlantic. Stationed in Halifax NS, he returned to Toronto following the war. Soon after, he began a 36-year career at Air Canada that would eventually see him relocated to Montreal, QC where he lived with his family through the 70s and early 80s. He loved the airline and served it proudly receiving the Air Canada Award of Excellence for his many outstanding contributions in supervisory and management roles. He forged cherished, lifelong friendships at Air Canada remaining active in the airline's community following retirement through his work with Air Canada Pionairs. After retiring from Air Canada, he returned to Ontario settling in Oakville continuing to work and volunteer. Allan believed in community and worked tirelessly to serve his community as a Rotarian (Oakville-Trafalgar chapter), as an active member of his local church, St. Jude's Anglican, and as a volunteer at Oakville-Trafalgar Hospital.
