An afternoon of activities, food and prizes at B.Good, 487 Cornwall Rd., in the Longo's plaza, will see half of all food sales go towards the local volunteer-run organization. The Dog Rescuers, Inc. (www.thedogrescuersinc.ca) works with 20 other shelters and pounds on a provincial level, as well as members of the public, in re-homing abused and neglected dogs. It does not receive government funding and runs off of donations and fundraising initiatives. Deadline looming for HRCIF applications Halton non-profit agencies looking for funding opportunities should be aware of two upcoming deadlines. The Halton Region Community Investment Fund (HRCIF) provides funding to non-profit organizations that deliver community health or social service programs to Halton residents. Two categories of funding are available to organizations that meet eligibility criteria. Category One provides up to $20,000 for one year to non-profit, charitable or community organizations for shortterm, small capital and/or innovative projects. The deadline for Category One applications is Nov. 27 at 2 p.m. Category Two provides up to three years of program funding for charitable organizations. The deadline for Category Two applications is Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. During this proposal call, there is approximately $200,000 available for funding commitments in 2016, 2017 and 2018. "The non-profit sector and community volunteers provide tremendous support to individuals and families in Halton," stated Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr in a press release. "Halton Regional Council is committed to keeping Halton a great place to live, work, raise a family and retire for all our residents and the non-profit sector helps our community thrive."
