www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Thursday, December 31, 2015 | 28 Have you seen Crime Stoppers of Halton's prevention videos? Crime Stoppers of Halton has released two short videos on YouTube this holiday season to remind residents of their role in crime prevention. One of the public service announcements was released last summer and was played before the start of films at participating Cineplex theatres in Halton. The video was played at the Cineplex theatre on Wyecroft Road in Oakville throughout June before moving to the Cineplex theatre on Brant Street in Burlington in July and the Cineplex on Milton's Maple Avenue in August. The video draws attention to the anonymity Crime Stoppers provides residents who phone in crime tips by showing an armed robber who rushes into a store and is perplexed when he sees people in the store wearing ski masks. The confused robber retreats from the store empty-handed, running into more ski masked citizens as he leaves. The video then fades to black with the words "You stay anonymous. Criminals don't" appearing on the screen. Crime Stoppers has also released a 15-second video called If Crimes Were This Easy to Spot. Both end with the appearance of the Crime Stoppers of Halton logo and its tip-line number 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Crime Stoppers is a community volunteer charitable organization. It offers telephone, text, and online services to allow residents to give tips on criminal activity. It does not subscribe to call display, record phone calls and all text and web tips are encrypted. Rewards of up to $2,000 are offered for information leading to an arrest.
