continued from p.1 A huge sports fan, Boissiere could often be found playing hockey and for a time also enjoyed training in mixed martial arts. He was a member of the Kombat Arts Training Academy in Mississauga and enjoyed participating in martial arts competitions when the opportunity arose. When not engaged in these activities, his mother said he was working out at the gym and even worked for Good Life Fitness for a time. Photos on a memorial Facebook page show Boissiere hanging out with friends, sparring at Kombat Arts, hugging his sister Rachel after she got home from an early morning shift at Tim Hortons and other snapshots from his life. Another photo includes a sel e Boissiere sent to friends showing off a new haircut, while another had a French ag lter, a Facebook feature to show support for the victims of November's terrorist attack in Paris. Charmaine said it was her son's love of hockey that led to his untimely death. The night of the accident Calderone had driven over in an SUV and picked up Boissiere to play hockey. Other friends had been called to participate, but none had been able to. Boissiere's father had seen his son earlier that night, unexpectedly bumping into him at a nearby gas station. At 9 p.m., a transport truck and car collided in the eastbound lanes of the QEW just east of Trafalgar Road. A very short time later, police said, the SUV and Boissiere's family is joined in grief with the Calderone family a atbed transport truck crashed into the existing accident. Fuel from the vehicles resulted in heavy smoke and ames. Calderone and Boissiere were pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the collision remains unknown and members of the Burlington OPP Detachment are investigating.Witnesses to the collision are being asked to come forward and contact Provincial Const. Rob Conant at 905-681-2511. Charmaine and her family did not learn of Boissiere's death until the next morning when the police knocked at their door. "We're holding on," said Charmaine."We're doing the best we can. Everyone is saying `You're a strong woman. You're holding up really well,' but I have to because I have two girls." Charmaine said Boissiere was close to his sisters, Rachel and Kimberly, who are struggling with his loss. She said his father Alan is also coping as best as he can with the tragedy. The family is not alone in their grief. Boissiere's Facebook page is lled with comments from friends mourning his death. "Merry Christmas bro... you were a good friend and you truly will be missed. Lol so many good times with you bro, so many memories pop into my head whether we were training, going out for food afterwards or just doing some random foolishness," writes Brandon Trini. "Thanks for all the memories Tim, you were a real genuine guy and a pleasure to be around." Similar messages were left on Boissiere's memorial Facebook page, which has 159 members. Charmaine said the community has been incredibly supportive in the wake of her son's death. She noted she would have to start writing down names to avoid forgetting any of the amazing people who have helped her family during this period. Friends and family poured in from as far away as Chicago to visit the Boissieres and ensure the house was never empty. She said the phone has also been ringing constantly with those passing on their condolences. Neighbours and co-workers have also helped where they can. "I don't think we could have gone through this without the community support. Community, family, friends, everybody -- they have been really, really good," said Charmaine. She noted her family has reached out to the Calderone family and she attended Michael's funeral Tuesday (Dec. 29). Charmaine said she and her family had to go and offer the Calderones some support, stating they are in this together. "It happened to their son and it happened to mine. So, we had to go," she said. Timothy Boissiere's funeral took place Thursday, Dec. 31 at St. Matthew Roman Catholic Church in Oakville. 7 | Thursday, January 7, 2016 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com DEALS YOU LOVE FOR LESS WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
