The arena will also include a walking track; a gymnasium; a new seniors' centre with a separate entrance; administrative offices; a new Kinsmen Pine Room for public meetings and events; and a National Hockey League (NHL)-sized ice surface of 85' x 200'. A new Town of Oakville fire hall will also be built on the corner of Kerr and Rebecca streets. Construction start in 2017, job done by fall 2018 The total project budget, including the fire hall, is anticipated to cost approximately $36.7 million. Integrated Project Delivery The Town states it is using an Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) approach to design and construction rather than the traditional designbid-build method. It has entered into a three-party agreement with the architect and general contractor at the outset rather than the traditional approach of first entering into a contract with the architect followed by a separate contract with the general contractor once the design is complete. "By bringing together everyone in the early stages of the project, IPD offers a more collaborative approach that results in a more reliable schedule and budget," according to a Town statement. Brennan added Town staff will continue to meet with community organizations and other stakeholders in a few months time to gather community input on the design.
