www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Thursday, April 14, 2016 | 12 Police allege cruiser was rammed, SIU confirms it's monitoring case by David Lea Oakville Beaver Staff Three men are facing multiple charges after a vehicle allegedly rammed a police cruiser following a break-in to an Oakville home Friday. Around 12:30 p.m., a resident on Silversmith Drive contacted Halton police after allegedly witnessing a break-in to a neighbouring dwelling. Police said the residence's side door had been forced open and suspects were discovered with clothing accessories, cash and home electronics when officers arrived on the scene. At this point, police allege several suspects entered a vehicle and attempted to escape the area, ramming a Halton police cruiser in the process. Then officers say the trio attempted to flee on foot. A police pursuit resulted in three arrests. A quantity of stolen property was also recovered. No officers were injured during this incident. Mario Slack, 26, of no fixed address, has been charged with break and enter, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, and three counts of possession of property obtained by crime. Trevor Williams, 25, of Oakville has been charged with break and enter, assaulting a police officer and three counts of possession of property obtained by crime. Stephane Lyle, 27, of no fixed address, has been charged with break and enter, assaulting a police officer and three counts of possession of property obtained by crime. The Oakville Beaver has been contacted by family members of Williams, who allege he was Tasered in the head during his arrest. They also said he was taken to hospital where he remains in serious condition. Halton police would not comment on whether any suspects were injured during the incident. Ontario Special Investigations Unit (SIU) Spokesperson Jason Gennaro confirmed the SIU has been notified about the suspect's injuries. He said at present "the individual who was injured remains in hospital with an undiagnosed condition." Gennaro said the SIU is monitoring the man's condition to determine the extent of the injuries and whether those injuries meet the threshold for the group's mandate. The SIU is an arm's-length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
