The concept, originally founded by women in 2006 in the U.S. and later in Canada in 2012, is to get 100 men or women to meet once a quarter at a local restaurant or bar for a drink and some networking. Each person who attends donates $100, such that the effort raises at least $10,000, which is then donated to a Halton-based charity by popular vote. The 100 Women Who Care Oakville chapter, chaired by Ishrani Henry, held its latest meeting April 18 at Tavolo Restaurant on Rebecca St. Pictured, above, from left, are: Laurie Ogilvie, Louise Preston, Ishrani Henry and Debbie Braun. Funds raised went to Radius Child and Youth Services. Meanwhile, 100 Guys Who Care Oakville, co-founded by Donald Belovich and Amir Gorgi, met April 5 at Fionn MacCool's, raising more than $16,000 for recipient charity Halton Women's Place. The group surprised the organization at its Burlington office with a cheque drop-off April 18, pictured below. For more information, visit www.100womenoakville.com or www.100guyswhocareoakville.com.
