Who may benefit from Chiropractic Care? · If you are suffering from low back pain · If you have headaches that never seem to go away · If you are someone who has been injured at work or suffers from repetitive strain injuries · If you have been injured in a car accident resulting in injuries, including whiplash · If you are active in sports, but after the game have stiff joints or shooting pains · If you are pregnant and have an aching back · If you suffer from fibromyalgia or other chronic pain conditions Q. Can my young child be treated for Chiropractic treatment? Pediatric chiropractic care can help promote health and wellbeing. A good time to consider bringing kids in for an appointment is when they reach major milestones in their development (such as starting to sit up, crawl, walk, etc.), after any trauma or falls, or if you notice any signs of imbalance (limping, head tilting, etc.). Chiropractic care may also help resolve breastfeeding issues and colic. If you recognized yourself with any of the above symptoms, know that you do not have to keep on suffering with these. Dr. Smith and her team may be able to help you live a pain-free life! Ask the expert Call 905-829-0724 for an appointment. The success and contribution of newcomers to Halton was recently celebrated at the Halton Multicultural Council's (HMC) annual Awards Night and Gala. Oakville youth Vishal Vijay received the Recognition Award for Youth (R.A.Y) Award while Abdullah Hatia, the imam for Halton Mosque in Burlington, was honoured with the HMC Community Leadership Award at the April 22 event. Vijay, a 15-year-old Oakville Trafalgar High School (OTHS) student, is an outspoken social activist who, together with his brother Ishan Vijay, founded the non-profit EveryChildNow, which advocates for children's rights. Since 2012, the group has empowered more than 850 children through various campaigns; fundraised for clean water in India, organized Oakville youths to build 4,000 household protection kits Vishal Vijay to send to West Africa; and collected more than 25,000 school, food and clothing items for children in Canada and abroad. In 2014, Vijay collaborated with the Canadian Museum for Human Rights in Winnipeg on a permanent exhibit focused on children's rights, and in 2015, he was recognized as one of Three Dot Dash's Global Teen Leaders. At school, Vijay competes on the Model United Nations Team, Public Speaking Team and Reach for the Top Team. He maintains an A-average and Abdullah Hatia spends his free time promoting a culture of selfless service through EveryChildNow. It is these outstanding achievements that helped Vijay earn the R.A.Y. award, which recognizes a high school student who demonstrates leadership in human rights, diversity, culture, social justice, community development, antidiscrimination and equity. Imam Hatia was honoured for building strong connections with other faith leaders in Halton and initiating the Halton GAR alliance, which brings together multiple religious and social organizations to help Syrian refugees after they move into their first homes. Each of the organizations take on the responsibility of supplying part of an emergency starter pack that includes kitchen items, bedding, food, hygiene supplies among other items. Families in need are then `adopted' and paired with buddy families from the area that help them integrate into the community. Hatia heads the current Halton Mosque effort of adopting 10 Syrian families with more families expected. He also leads the youth group at the mosque and afterschool classes for more than 80 students. Hatia was given the HMC Community Leadership Award by long-standing community volunteer Bill Allison, who was also HMC's first president. The award recognizes outstanding achievements of individuals in promoting diversity and civic engagement in Halton.
