This is the second year that your Chamber has partnered with the Rotary Club of Oakville West in presenting these awards that honor our top businesses in five categories. Congratulations to all those nom inated and in particular those who are the winners in each category. (Not available at pre sent time. Look in the Friday Beaver). In early January, our Chamber took the lead in organizing and moderating a workshop on the transportation congestion crisis. A number of MPs and MPPs from Halton ridings and all our mayors attended this meeting hosted by our Regional Chair. The meeting pre senteda good opportunity to exchange information on the problem and to begin discus sion on the role of each level of government in funding the solutions. It was agreed that the group would meet again in February at which time representatives of the Provincial and Federal Governments would be asked to present their plans for addressing our trans portation problems and the associated funding. As reported last month, many upcoming networking events have been scheduled. The regular monthly Business After Business events have been scheduled through June and on February 17th a Business Before Business networking event will be held hosted by past chamber president Andres Paara. Standby for announcements on two exciting social/networking events for March/April. Remember to bring business cards, brochures and other marketing materials to all these events. See you there! The overriding objective of chamber staff and volunteers is to ensure that our mem bers consider that they receive full value for their membership fee in the chamber. To do so, we need your ongoing feedback on what services are most important to you and how we are doing in meeting your needs on each of these services. A brief survey seeking your inputon these points was sent to all members in January, mostly by e-mail. If you have already responded, thank you very much for your input. If not, please take a few minutes and give us your opinions. This information will be used to focus on services and their delivery. Your membership i Canadian Chamk While the Ontario Chamber tends to deal with issies are of a Provincial nature, the Canadian Chamber spends our Chamber on issues of a National nature. At their annual conference each September the Can sents a series of positions on selected National and Int those in attendance, for their review and ultimate approv; These resolutions are then brought to the attention o government officials and other bodies to whom recomm ed. The method for presentation of each issue will be dete of factors, including subsequent events and legislation-\ subject matter. All local Chambers of Commerce from across Canada are encouraged to submit "draft" resolutions, for the Canadian Chamber. We are acting on this request at the pi eral of our committees working on "draft" resolutions, v our Board of Directors for approval, and then forwan Chamber. Should you be aware of a National or Interna of concern to you, please forward it to us for consideratio mittees. Who knows, maybe next September YOUR RESC DEBATED AT THE CANADIAN CHAMBER ANNUAL MEETING. 905 - 847-1956 1135 McCraney St., E.
