Bird lover still looking for birds lost near Castlefield An Oakville bird lover is asking for the public's help locating 12 baby cockatiels parrots that went missing on Castlefield Crescent last week. Bellinda Kwirant said six weeks ago her mating cockatiels gave birth to 14 babies. Early last week, she was taking them to visit a friend on Castlefield Crescent when they got free. "I was holding their cage in my arms... I was in the driveway leading to a garage and a car backed into the driveway and backed into me," said Kwirant. "I fell and so did the cage and all the little ones flew off." So far, only two of the baby birds have been recovered. The most recently recovered baby was found in the area north of Glenashton Drive. Kwirant, who has reported the situation to the Oakville & Milton Humane Society (OMHS), said the situation is urgent as the baby birds are completely dependent on hand-feeding and have no experience in finding their own food or feeding themselves. "They need to come back to me so they can survive," said Kwirant. She speculated the birds may be found on the ground near bushes and is asking residents to check their backyards. Anyone who finds one of these birds is asked to contact Kwirant at 905-827-8634. 9 | Friday, May 20, 2016 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com Oakville's Bellinda Kwirant lost a dozen baby cockatiels when she visited a friend on Castlefield Crescent last week.
