Ian Sim received the Fire Safety Award during a ceremony in Toronto last month. The award, which was presented by the Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council, was given to Sim in recognition of the 15 years he supported the Oakville Fire Department's Fire Prevention Week Kick-Off by assembling the volunteers that made the important event a hit. "I was quite surprised really," said Sim. "The Oakville Fire Prevention people called me and told me they had nominated me.... The next call I got a few weeks later was from the Fire Marshal's of ce telling me I would receive that award.
