However, the Oakville Beaver learned it was erected in Bronte in 2004. Chris Mark, director of Oakville's Parks and Open Space Department, said in 2004, Peace Poles were installed in many cities in Canada with approximately 200,000 erected globally. As its name suggests, the Peace Pole is a symbol of peace. It features four sides with the words "May Peace Prevail on Earth," written on each side, each in a different language. A Bronte resident championed the Oakville Peace Pole and it now stands in Bronte Waterfront Heritage Park. Mark said the life ring in the photo should not be attached and has since been removed. W ?
