Driveway Solutions YOUR DRIVEWAY & PATIO SPECIALIST BIRTHS l Obituaries FERRONE, Antonia On Monday, August 22, 2016 at her home in Oakville, surrounded by her loving family, Antonia peacefully passed away. She is the beloved wife of the late Vito and the dearly loved mother of her children and spouses: Carmine (Patricia) Ferrone, Dan (Barb) Ferrone, Rina (Scott) Gowan and Vicki Magnacca. She is also the much-adored Nonna of Kristen and Tommy Ferrone, Matthew (Emma), Marco (Caitlin) and Danielle Ferrone, Spencer and Katrina Gowan and Michael, Carly and Bennett Magnacca. As well, she is Nonni to Luca Ferrone (only 6 weeks old). Finally, she is survived by her brother Giuseppe (Rosa) D'Ambrosio and sister Melina (D'Ambrosio) Ferrone. "Nonna" as she was best known, was "a force of nature, an irresistible vortex of maternal nurture, a master epicure." Nothing pleased her more than to have her whole family at home on a Sunday afternoon where everyone could feast on her beautifully cooked meal, talking and laughing to their heart's content - all at the same time. She had an extraordinary knack for making her home a sanctuary where everyone felt safe and special - as being her favourite. She truly lived an exceptional life: As an innocent, 20-year old, she boldly left her small Italian village of Bella, Potenza, crossed the ocean all alone, landed in Canada, married her childhood sweetheart, stayed married for over half a century, had four children, ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. For over 30 years she supported her family by working at General Electric and always doing all that she could for her family. She planted deep-roots, made many lasting friendships, and achieved her ultimate dream: A great family legacy that would influence many generations of Ferrones to come.
