Too Close for Comfort explores the evolving integration of Canada's defense and foreign policies with those of the United States and its consequences on Canada's sovereignty. Barlow asks us to consider how much we have already lost through such policies as the proportional energy-sharing agree ment of NAFTA and whether continued integration will pry open key Canadian policies such as our public health system. In addition to founding the Council of Canadians, Barlow co-founded the Blue Planet Project aimed at stopping the com modification of water around the world. She is also a Director of the International Forum on Globalization. Barlow was nominated for the 1,000 Women for the Nobel Peace Prize 2005 and she is the recipient of the 2005/2006 Lannan Cultural Freedom Fellowship.
