Corey said police would not speculate whether the victim and his assailants knew each other and at press time no motive for the shooting had been estab lished. He did say, however, that the suspects should be considered armed and danger ous. Corey went on to. say that police have established <fno links whatsoever" between Thursday evening's incident and Oakville's first-ever known drive-by shooting on Dec. 15 when a 29-year old local man was shot around 7 p.m. outside of 2923 West Oak Trails Boulevard. It was there that Halton Regional Police officers found the victim - who was in the driver's, seat of his stationary vehicle - shot in the chest. He recovered in hospi tal. None of the passengers in the front and rear seats of the car was injured. Investigators believe that the victim was specifically targeted in the shooting which occurred at close range. A 24-year old Toronto man is recovering after being shot in the leg outside Oakville Place Thursday night in the second local shooting in three weeks. According to Halton Regional Police, a 911 call was received around 9:15 p.m. indicating someone had just been shot in the parking lot of Oakville Place on Leighland Avenue. Police officers and EMS personnel responded and located a white male in the lot on the south side of the mall, who had been shot in the leg. The victim - who suf fered non-life-threatening injuries - was transported by ambulance to Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital where he underwent surgery. At press time Friday he remained in hospital in stable condition. According to Sgt. Jeff Corey, a handgun was used in the shooting. No one else was injured in this incident, which took place at least 50 metres away from the mall, which closed at 9 p.m., and well away from any doors.
