With more than 20 years in the pet food industry, Canadian Pet Connection strives to help you transform your pet through quality diet and care. As leaders in the pet health food market, Canadian Pet Connection focuses on providing clients with a variety of high-end human grade pet foods. "When we first opened our doors more than 20 years ago, most pet food retailers were still selling feed grade, or low quality food," said Lorne Forder, owner and CEO for Canadian Pet Connection. "We recognized this market need and carefully selected several high-quality products, a trend which most stores are emulating now, but for many years we were alone in this particular market. Our challenge was to educate the public that not all pet foods are created equal." With two retail locations in Oakville, the father-and-son business offers a wide range of products ranging from food, toys, beds and treats to supplies for day-to-day pet care. In addition to super-premium kibble, Canadian Pet Connection offers several brands of raw food frozen and dehydrated. "We've had roots planted in this community for two decades. Our staff is well trained and consistent with their advice and level of service," said Forder. "This gives our clients a sense of continuity as they see the same people when they shop. The knowledge and experience that our staff offer really adds value for our clients. Seeing them struggle can be worrisome. When a child has trouble speaking, listening, writing, or reading, he or she can suffer academically, emotionally and socially, however sometimes these troubles are subtle and hard to detect. With kids back to school, it's not uncommon for parents and teachers alike to be concerned that a child is behind his or her peers or is struggling with communication. Young children can have articulation or speech difficulties that may be considered abnormal, and others may have difficulties with formulating thoughtful sentences. Some children may also have difficulties with fluency or stuttering. Sometimes parents think that their child's struggles are normal or that it's okay to wait to see if the child "grows out of it", which often is not the best course of action. An abundance of research shows that poor language and literacy development in the younger years can result in long-term academic difficulties into the teen years and beyond. Communication difficulties can have a negative impact on a child and his or her ability to thrive academically and personally. Often if identified and treated early, these issues are easily improved or managed. "If there are concerns about how well a child is communicating, the first step is a speech and language assessment, which can identify areas that may need to be addressed." explains Bon-Hi Moon, director and speech-language pathologist with Chorus Speech & Hearing Centre. "At Chorus, we take time to get to know each of our clients. After an assessment, we explain our findings and tailor a treatment plan specifically for the individual, designed to result in positive, measurable improvements," said Moon. "Our staff share a passion for improving our clients' communication health, which combined with our professional knowledge and experience, enables us to provide comprehensive care, always putting the client and the family first." Chorus Speech & Hearing Centre specializes in assessment and treatment of hearing, hearing aids, speech, language, literacy, voice and swallowing concerns.
