18 - The Oakville Beaver, Friday March 17, 2006 Deadline nears for annual drinking and driving essay contest The Town of Oakville is trying to help write off impaired driving through an annual essay contest. The Mayor's Special Committee Against Impaired Driving (SCAID) is once again sponsoring its annual essay contest in memory of Janet Dooley, an Oakville resident killed by a drunk driver in 1991. Open to all Oakville students, this year's topic is Why No One Should Drink and Drive. Students up to 14 years of age are being asked to submit a 250500 word essay to be eligible to win a bicycle and helmet courtesy of the Co-operators Insurance. Students 15 years of age and older are invited to submit a 350700 word essay to be eligible to win a driver training gift certifi cate courtesy of Young Drivers of Canada.
