The event, organized by home healthcare business Access Abilities (formerly MediChair), drew more than 700 former service men and women who served during the Second World War, the Korean War, Afghanistan and other con icts. The event kicked off with a piper playing as a Colour Party carried Canadian and Allied ags to a podium. This was followed by a procession that included local politicians, Canadian Forces members, Halton police and RCMP of cers. All who could stand, did so, for the singing of O Canada and the reading of Lt.-Col. John McCrae's poem, In Flanders Field. ClubLink Corporation ULC and ClubLink Holdings Limited, the owner of the world-famous golf course, said it has a long-term plan to transform the iconic golf course into a residential, retail and of ce development -- with more than half of the privatelyowned site dedicated to the public as permanent, publicly accessible green space. "We want to have an open and transparent conversation about this with the people of Oakville," states ClubLink President and CEO Rai Sahi in a media release. "We strongly believe the signi cant public green space we will permanently dedicate to Oakville residents is a plan worth talking about," said Sahi. The proposed redevelopment includes transforming the 92.7 hectare Glen Abbey golf course into 3,222 residential units, 121,000 sq. ft. of new commercial space and about 124 acres of permanent, publicly accessible green space.
