ClubLink has six ideas it hopes to implement to "enrich the Park Plan and to make key historical and contextual themes legible to the public." The ideas include: · Greenway Park, which links portions of the open space system to form a distinctive circuit, reminiscent of a golf course; · A valley' s edge open space, which has two defining areas, a multi-use trail and rolling fairways; · Great Belvedere, a reinterpretation of spectator viewing opportunities on the existing golf course to provide a scenic overlook of the valley landscape from the edge of the table lands; · Village market and retail facility with an urban square created by reusing the existing stables building; · Social hub and central park located at Glen Abbey' s clubhouse and 18th hole green; · Valley lands, about a 78-acre portion of Sixteen Mile Creek that is currently privatelyowned, being conveyed to public authority. ClubLink plans to initiate an engagement program to share information with Oakville residents about how its redevelopment plan will benefit the community. It has also launched a website, www. glenabbeyplan.com, with details of its plan, including the municipal financial impact, a traffic-impact study and a waste management strategy. While ClubLink was satisfied with the open house turnout and people' s reactions to the plan, Visentin acknowledged many are opposed to it and the process will be a "long haul." "Our job is to be as open and communicative as possible to win people over. It' s impossible to get 100 per cent buy-in on Day 1," said Visentin.
