The police services board named Andrew Fletcher the new chief this week after Chief Rick Beazley announced his retirement earlier this month. Fletcher will serve as chief-designate until April 18, when Beazley officially retires. "I'm honoured to be appointed as the next chief of police," Fletcher said in a media release. "I look forward to engaging with and mobilizing our community and other service providers to collaboratively address the changes that face our communities and the police service in the years ahead." The police services board will begin a search for a new deputy police chief in the new year. Board chair Rod Hicks said Innisfil and BWG taxpayers will be served well by Fletcher' s experience as a police officer.
