L 'h I Obituaries I Obituaries n ew sca I Obituaries November 19, 1960 December 27, 2016 After spending Christmas and Boxing Day with his mom, brothers and sisters, Chris died of a heart attack at home early in the morning on December 27, 2016 in Tiny Township in his 57th year. Predeceased by his father Joseph (2010) and his beloved youngest sister Elizabeth (2011), Chris leaves behind his mother Patricia, sister Joy (Mike), brother Steven (Carole), brother Timothy (Carmen), nephews Michael and Domenic, Alexandre, Jonathan and Nicholas and nieces Emma and Erin. Chris was born in Espanola, ON and moved to Oakville at one year old with his family. He attended public school at Gladys Speers from Kindergarten through Grade eight, and then the newly-opened Queen Elizabeth Park High School (QEP). Afterwards he spent his career as a roofer, primarily with Cherry & Hoyle. Chris moved to Tiny Township with his parents in 1998 and there spent many a fine summer. Chris loved pets. From Pixie to Joey, from Puss to Boots, the family's cats and dogs looked to him for everything. A life-long fisherman and motorcycle enthusiast, on his Bultaco 340, Chris became Ontario's #1 Trials rider in both the Junior and Senior classes. He was the centre of attention wherever he rode. Chris loved weeklong trips with his brothers, fishing the streams of Lake Huron's north shore, or weekend getaways to the small streams surrounding Teeswater, the birthplace of his father. And little brought him more joy than golfing with his sister Joy and his Uncle Dennis. Chris will be remembered by most as a funloving, mischievous and loyal friend, always ready with a joke, a kind word and a beer. He was a loving and generous person. He is gone too soon and will be missed by all. The family is planning two celebrations of his life. The first will be Saturday, January 14th, 1-4 p.m. at the Penetanguishene Legion Hall (2 Poyntz St, Penetanguishene), for his family and his friends in the North. The second will be Saturday, January 21st, 1-4 p.m. at the Bronte Legion Hall (79 Jones St, Bronte), for his friends in Oakville and adjacent areas in SW Ontario. Place an In Memoriam in the classifieds. emaildassified@metroland 1937 - 2017 On January 3, 2017, a little earlier than she wanted, Bunny Rickaby (nee Hodgins), of Oakville, Ontario left us peacefully with family at her side. She was the beloved wife of Andy for over 58 years. Loving mom to Dianne (Vic), Lynne (the late Mike), Lesley (Lester). Cherished grandma Bunny to Ashley (Dave), Jamie (Adrian), Elizabeth, Chelsea, Mitchell and Jayne and great-grand mother to Noah, Ethan, Elliot and Darcy. Bunny will be dearly missed by her family, her brother Burnell and her many, many friends. With her impeccable manners, unmatched eye for detail and ability to entertain, Bunny was a consummate hostess. As a young bride in the early days of Thompson Manitoba, she established the foundation upon which she and Andy built their lives in the Canadian mining community. Bunny lived in Quebec, British Columbia and Northern Ontario where a piece of her heart will always remain. She spent the last 27 years in her hometown of Oakville, Ontario. It was here that she volunteered with the Museum and WAMIC (with the Crafty Ladies) and fulfilled a life long ambition of becoming a member of a choir. Bunny travelled the world with Andy but always loved her home, wherever it was, the best. She had a wicked sense of humour that would unleash gales of family laughter, she was a terrific cook, had a creative spark that revealed itself in her many forms of art and above all Bunny loved Andy, her girls and the life she lived. A Celebration of Bunny's long and happy life will be held at the Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds St., Oakville (Today) Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Bunny's memory to Ian Anderson House or The Oakville Hospital Foundation. The trouble is that we think that love hurts but it is not love that does that, it is simply wishing you were here. We take comfort in the love you provided us and know you still are with us. Forever in our hearts, always on our mind. We remember your warm smile, caring eyes, contagious laugh and all the fond memories, everywhere we go. When we think of you in Heaven, we know you are free and happy. Like sailing the many lakes and oceans, you are home. We express our sorrow and gratitude but most of all we express our love.
