www.insideHALTON.com |OAKVILLE BEAVER |Thursday, January 26, 2017 | 2 2 CCAH to kick off Black History Month celebrations The Canadian Caribbean Association of Hal ton (CCAH), in partnership w ith the Oakville M useum, kicks off Black History Month on Thursday, Feb. 2. The launch event w ill be held at Oakville Town Hall, 1225 Trafalgar Rd. Celebrate Canada 150 through the rich cultural heritage o f African Canadian people with exhibitions by the Oakville M useum, Sheridan College and the Association of African Canadian Artists. The celebration also features performances by John Campbell, Beyond Sound and Ballet Creole. The exhibit begins at 6:30 p.m. and performances on the main stage start at 7 p.m. The annual celebration brings together the Town, CCAH, as w ell as the Halton public and Catholic school boards, Halton police and more. Black History Month is also an opportunity for Oakville to showcase the prom inent role it, and m any of its ciitizens of the time, played in the Underground Railroad. The CCAH is a non-proht charitable organization serving the residents of Oakville, Milton, Halton Hills, and Burlington. It is dedicated to prom oting diversity and inclusion, supporting cultural developm ent, encouraging civic engagem ent through volunteering, and offering arts and educational programs.
