Oct. 30th. The meeting goes from 7 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. in the Oakville Trafalgar High School theatre, 1460 Devon Road. Acclaimed candidates Mayor Ann Mulvale, Ward 3 Regional Councillor Keith Bird and Ward 3 Local Councillor Tedd Smith will discuss their views on local issues. Residents can also meet the candi dates for the Halton District School Board and the Halton Catholic District School Board. The general meeting will also feature a guest speaker from Oakville Green, who will give a pre sentation on its objectives concerning the preservation of Oakville as a beau tiful and health place to live and work. _ Residents will also receive an update on issues such as commercial developm ent, the proposed Sithe Power Plant and local truck traffic. Ward 6 candidates speak on Nov. 2nd The South Territory Iroquois Ridge Society (STIRS) has scheduled a Ward 6 all candidates meeting for Thurs. Nov. 2nd at Sheridan Public School on Lancaster Drive. The event begins at 7 p.m. Those in the running for the regional chair's job - incumbent Joyce Savoline, Anne Marsden and Lisa Cooper - have been invited to speak then answer questions for 45 minutes. The rem ainder o f the two-hour meeting will be devoted to those run ning in Ward 6 for local and local/regional Council. Incumbent local/regional council lor Kurt Franklin is up against Roberta Need while Jim Smith and Janice W right are vying for the local seat.
