This comedy from the UK, directed by Nigel Cole and starring Brenda Blethyn and Craig Ferguson, won the Audi ence Award at the Sundance Film Festival. (Rated AA; 94 minutes) Butterfly, directed by Jose Luis Cuerda and starring Fer nando Feman Gomez and Manuel Lozano, is a Spanish dra ma that will be screened on Sunday, Nov. 19th. (Rated AA; 96 minutes) 2000 and None, a Canadian comedy/drama directed by Arto Paragamian and starring John Turturro and Katherine Borowitz, will be featured on Wednesday, Nov. 22nd. This movie earned the Official Selection at the 2000 Toronto International Film Festival. (Rated R; 90 minutes) Then on Wednesday Dec. 6th, Dancer in the Dark, win ner of top honours and best actress at the Cannes Film Fes tival, will be on view. This is a drama from Denmark/Sweden/France that is directed by Lars Van Trier and stars Bjork and Catherine Deneuve. (Rated AA; 139 minutes) All OAC Film Festival films are screened at Famous Players Cinema in Oakville Town Centre I at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $8, $6 for members, and are available at the door on the screening day or in advance at Bean There (106 Reynolds St.), Bookers Bookstore (172 Lakeshore Rd. Auditions for Amazing Journey will be held today (Friday) and Sun day at Sommerville Manor, 1135 Central Pkwy. W., Mississauga. Approximately 50 to 80 people will be needed for this musical, with about 10 to 25 soloists. Those who audition must have one song prepared and memorized from either a pop, Broadway or Dis ney repertoire. They should also bring sheet music, but avoid bring ing any music which is not melodic, such as Rap. A pianist will be provided. Singing along with cassettes or CDs will not be allowed, therefore, those who do not bring sheet music, will have to sing a cappella. No experience is necessary but audition times must be booked. Call 949-6499. Rehearsals for Amazing Journey will begin immediately and continue until the show opens at 8 p.m. on Feb. 24th in the Living Arts Centre, Burnhamthorpe and Hwy. 10 area, Mississauga. Amazing Journey is a fun and entertaining approach to raising pub lic awareness to the plight o f the earth and the dire need for global stewardship. By exploring the history of our planet, David Suzuki, narrator, will take the audience through this amaz ing journey at a one-night gala per formance. Proceeds will go to the David Suzuki Foundation. The music and narration were written by two Canadians, Denise Duncan and Bill Iveniuk. Amazing Journey was originally recorded as a collection of songs with narration, taking the listener through an exploration of the earth and the environment from the Big Bang to the present.
