He was known as an industry titan and fre quent columnist for the Collision Repair maga zine. Professionally he was described as a passion ate leader, a boss and to J.R. Martino; he was the mentor that "wouldn' t stop giving; advice, time, love, etc." In the words of his family and loved ones, Sam was "always there to help everyone." In his memory, and as a part of his continuing legacy The Sam Piercey Foundation was estab lished by The Budds' Group of Companies, a rec ommendation made by local investment advisor, Merritt Goddard. The fund launched on Dec. 16 at The Budds' Collision Annual Christmas Pig Roast. The fund will provide an annual scholarship for a student studying collision repair at the post secondary level. It will assist young apprentices become li censed auto repair technicians by helping them with the cost of schooling, tools and other needs of their apprenticeship. The timing of the establishing of this fund also allowed for a unique opportunity with the Oakville Community Foundation (OCF). In late fall, the OCF launched an unique Matching gift opportunity in 2016 -- The Doris Hyde Legacy Match Campaign. S annual contributions from our many generous donors and reach our objective of $100,000plus, thereby providing a capital base to fund recipients well into the future." They added that "Sam would be extremely proud of this endowment and the legacy it will leave. He was a `one-of-a-kind' champion for the collision re pair industry." So far the foundation has reached $63,109.94 of its $100,000 goal. This match was made possible through the generous estate gift from Doris Hyde. In partnering with the OCF the Budds' Group of Companies and the Piercey family were able to quickly build their fund, and provide great sup port for future scholarships, allowing the legacy of Sam Piercey to live on through the Sam Piercey Foundation InMemoriam Fund.
