C D CD C T C On Saturday Feb. 25, the Schizophrenia Society of Ontario (SSO) holds its annual Peace of Minds Yogathon in Oakville. Funds raised from the event will support SSO' s mandate to improve the lives of people living with schizophrenia through counselling, educa tion and research. The SSO is a province-wide charitable orga nization founded in 1979 in an attempt to build awareness about serious mental illnesses and to support families and individuals living with these illnesses. The Peace of Minds Yogathon features classes from various yoga instructors from studios in Oakville and other locations throughout the province. The Oakville Yogathon will take place at St. Luke' s Community Centre, 3114 Dundas St. W , from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is the 12th year for the annual Peace of Minds Yogathon, said Amanda White, Commu nications Officer for SSO. Typically, the yogathon is held in different cities across the province, but White says Oakville has always been a strong supporter. People with Schizophrenia say yoga helps them with recovery because it is relaxing and helps them focus on something different, White added.
