Administered by the Ontario Trillium Foundation (O T F), O ntario150 Com munity Capital Program grants will help non-profit organizations, m unicipalities and indigenous com m unities renovate, repair and retroft ex isting com m unity and cultural infrastructure. The funds, totaling $92,500, will be put towards purchasing a commercial-grade kitchen to provide cooking and nutrition program s for all ages. It w as identifed as a com m unity need dur ing the construction of the facility in 2012 but w as not com pleted at the time due to budget restrictions. "Our arts and cultural spaces play a vital role in m aking Oakville vibrant and lively. Thanks to this very special Ontario150 Com munity grant, the Town of Oakville can in vest in the Queen Elizabeth Park Com m u nity and Cultural Centre to further enrich the lives of m em bers of our com m unity in a m eaningful way," stated Oakville MPP and Ontario Labour Minister Kevin Flynn, in a m edia release. In addition to providing space for culinary program s, the kitchen will be available for com m unity rentals and events. The renovation, expected to be completed in early 2018, will cost $257,000, with the Town contributing $164,500 from its 2017 capital reserve. "Investing in Oakville's cultural anchors, like Q EPCCC, is a key part of the Town's cul tural plan and a crucial w ay we help residents connect with their community," stated Mayor Rob Burton, in a m edia release. "We are pleased to be adding a community kitchen that all m em bers of the community can share and enjoy with their neighbours."
