Halton MPP Indira Naidoo-Harris made the announcement Friday, May 5, at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH). Halton Healthcare consists of OTMH, Milton District Hospital and Georgetown Hospital. Ontario's health care budget will total $53.8 billion in 2017-18 -- up 3.8 per cent over the previous year -- according to the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. "Today's announcement is welcome news as it recognizes the increasing demand for healthcare services in our growing communities in Halton," said Halton Healthcare President and CEO Denise Hardenne, in a statement. "This investment will help us meet that demand and allow us to continue to provide the exemplary care our patients have come to expect from us," Hardenne added. This investment in Halton is part of a 3.1 per cent increase in hospital funding proposed in the 2017 provincial budget to directly benefit public hospital across Ontario. "This is great news for Halton residents who depend on our high-quality health care services. With this "Connected to your Community " Halton Healthcare gets $15.6K in provincial funding (MRIs). The funding will also support service delivery by hospitals in high-growth communities, such has Halton Region, in addition to small, medium, northern and rural hospitals, mental health hospitals and stand alone pediatric hospitals in Ontario. "The investments we are making reflect our full commitment to maintaining high-quality health care for the people of Oakville," added Oakville MPP Kevin Flynn, in the same media release. "Hospitals remain the cornerstone of our health care system, and providing them with the funding they need to maintain the highest standard of care is essential," Flynn added.
