While the Sears store will be closing, RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust and Hudson Bay Company (HBC) announced they had entered into an agreement with Sears to secure a lease surrender for a fee of $4 million. Under the RioCan agreement, the Oakville Sears property is co-owned through RioCan's jo in t venture with HBC on a 5 0 /5 0 basis. In a recent media release, RioCan said it has the option of using 4 0 ,0 0 0 square feet of the 1 0 4 ,0 0 0 sq.ft. space for a Saks Off Fifth clothing store.
