The exhibit, which opened on Saturday, oc LU Oct. 14, includes paintings, watercolours and drawings from the period between 1932 and 2005. LU Gallery owner Joseph Rumi says this exhi bition celebrates McCarthy's love o f the Ca < nadian landscape with subjects from coast-too coast. E o McCarthy, who passed away in 2010 at the q c age of 100, studied at the Ontario College of o1 -t-- Art on a scholarship, where she was mentored CD J= by som e of the forem ost Canadian artists of CD q 'c o the early 20th century, including Arthur Lisc m er and J.E.H . MacDonald. She w as a m ember in the Royal Canadian Academy of Artists and the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour. During her career McCarthy received five Honorary Doctorates from five different Ca nadian Universities and was inducted into the Order of Ontario (1992) and the Order of Canada (1986). McCarthy's w ork has been exhibited and collected extensively in Canada and abroad including: National Gallery of Canada, the Art Gallery of Ontario, The Doris McCarthy Gal lery at the University of Toronto Scarborough and Wynick/Tuck Gallery.
