This work was created by participants in Points of Entry, a program designed by Oakville Galleries and art therapist Becky Hewis for seniors living with dementia and their caregivers. Oakville Galleries presents free art workshops for seniors Oakville Galleries presents Seniors Studio Connection, an art program designed especially for seniors, which offers insightful conversation along with enjoyable, art-making projects in a friendly environment. Everyone is welcome, whether you are a beginner or a lifelong art lover. Seniors of all abilities and levels of mobility are welcome to attend. Led by art therapist Brianna Kestle, this program is suitable for seniors living with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or dementia. Facilities are wheelchair accessible and family, friends and care partners are encouraged to come along. Program is free The program is free-of-charge and all supplies are provided by Oakville Galleries. There is also free bus transportation for seniors to and from the gallery, from their homes. On Friday Nov. 24, from 2-3 p.m., Seniors Studio Connection will hold a collage and painting workshop in Gairloch Gardens. After looking at the art of Canadian artist Sylvie Bélanger, participants will be inspired to create collages using magazine clippings. Participants can learn how to add feeling and meaning to a piece of art by adding painted details under the guidance of friendly staff. Then on Friday, Dec. 1 from 2-3 p.m., Seniors Studio Connection will hold a printmaking workshop at Centennial Square.
