The only problem is that it may be too good, at least for our newsroom internet set-up. Once on to the Blades home page, we can't access their inter-site links on the left of the screen to travel between sites. In case your computer has that problem w e've printed the various sites. Blades home page, again, is oakvilleblades.com The various sites are as follows ... oakvilleblades.com/contacts.htm oakvilleblades.com/roster.htm oakvilleblades.com/schedule.htm oakvilleblades.com/promotions.htm oakvilleblades.com/stats.htm oakvilleblades.com/education.htm oakvilleblades.com/tradition.htm oakvilleblades.com/links.htm (Continued from page D1) UPCOMING Following Friday's home opener, the Blades will take part in the annual league college showcase with all games at Mississauga Iceland Arena. The Blades crossover opponent will be Stouffville (the game counts in the standings) and they will play Sunday at noon. The Blades have their 'road' opener this Tuesday (Sept. 21), 7:30 p.m. in Mississauga. They're back at home (Ice Sports Oakville) hosting the Streetsville Derbys on Friday, September 24th. . TOURNEY RECAP The Blades were one of seven hosts throughout Ontario, at their home base at Ice Sports Oakville, and they easily made it through to Sunday morning's cham pionship game. It did prove to be their toughest game, by far, but they still prevailed 4-3 over the New Jersey Jr. Devils. A couple of returning vets combined for the win ning goal in overtime with Mike Lukajic scoring on a beautiful backhand, assisted by Bob Jaggard. Gavin Milligan had tied the game up at 3-3 from Marc Pinizzotto and Eugene Repa. The Blades scored the game's first two goals in the first period only to see the American squad come back with three of their own to hold a shortlived 3-2 lead in the final frame. Dave Mennie opened the scoring from Mike Lukajic and Aaron Coles. Mike Tarantino made it 2-0 from Rob Kapuscinski and Scott Westlake. The win vaulted the Blades into a one-game Sunday after noon showdown against Brampton who had emerged victorious from the Bramalea pool. With the injury bug really decimating the Blades, they lost a low scoring game 2-1. But back to the preliminary round, Oakville easily won all three preliminary round games in their own den. The Blades fell behind 1-0 to Richmond Hill but then blasted back with eight unanswered goals for the 8-1 win. The Blades led 2-1 and 6-1 at the respective intermissions. Goals were scored by David Mennie (3), Mike Tarantino (2), Aaron Coles, Bob Jaggard and Marc Pinizzotto. Assists went to Marc Pinizzotto (3), Eugene Repa (2), Mike Porter (2), Mike Lukajic (2), Stu MacCrimmon, Scott Westlake, Adam Gower and David Mennie. Marc Pinizzotto was the game MVP. The Blades followed up with a 12-1 drubbing of Staten Island Sabres. Will Barlow (game MVP) and Marc Pinizzotto led the way with a pair of goals each while singles were added by Scott Westlake, Kevin Saville, Jason Sajko, Stu MacCrimmon, Aaron Coles, Mike Tarantino, Mike Lukajic and Bob Jaggard. Assists went to Kevin Saville (2), Mike Tarantino (2), Mike Porter (2), Jeff Curran (2), Eugene Repa, Jason Sajko, Mike Lukajic, Willie Barlow, Marc Pinizzotto, Rob Kapuscinski, David Mennie and Aaron Coles. The Blades closed out the preliminary round with a 6-2 win over New Jersey. Single goals went to Rob Kapuscinski, Mike Lukajic, Scott Westlake, Kevin Saville, Stu MacCrimmon and Jeff Curran. Assists went to Peter Lang (2), Stu MacCrimmon, David Mennie, Adam Gower, Mike Porter, Eugene Repa, Mike Tarantino, Scott Westlake and Kevin Saville. Scott Westlake was named the game MVP for the Blades. The Blades went into the tourney hurting, particularly on defence, with the injured blue- liners including Mike Gardner (foot), Steve Kinnunen (chest) and Chris Pethick (broken toes). Aaron Coles, Scott Westlake, Adam Gower and Mike Porter, back from his usual forward position, stepped up the chal lenge. /T tt ta e ld M om ingstar 'on board'for United Way fundraiser There have been walk-a-thons, telethons, bike-a-thons and even the original 'thon', the marathon but, for Mike Momingstar of Momingstar Taekwon-Do, there is nothing like a Break-A-Thon. Momingstar intends to break 2000 one-inch thick pieces of wood with his bare hands and feet. This is not the first time that he has done this, but the fifth. Momingstar is head instructor of Momingstar Taekwon-Do, a martial arts school that has been in Oakville for the past 11 years. All proceeds will go to the United Way of Oakville. Centre court in Oakville Place is the site as it has been for the past four events. The Break-A-Thon will be held this Saturday, Sept. 18th, beginning at 10 a.m. and will run throughout the day. For more information, check out the website, www.breakathon.com. A special thanks goes out to the following corporate sponsors: Home Depot (who donated all the wood); Netinstinct (the designer of the website); Ideal Graphics; Cantwell Cullen & Co. and Data Graphics.
