His topic was the Red Cross. (Photo by Peter McCusker) Serving Glen Abbey, River Oaks ,\)oquo;s Ridge Oakville 581 Argus Road, Suite 202 Barr says he‘s been deejaying for the past three years on a partâ€"time basis at clubs, parties, and wedâ€" dings. He loves it. What he loves most is "putting smiles on people‘s faces". "That puts a smile on my face," he adds. (See ‘Radio Erindale . . . page 3) When he graduates from Ryerson, he wants to manage a "danceâ€"music" radio station or (preferably) be an "onâ€"air" personâ€" ality. He wants to be a deejay like his buddy Wayne Williams at "Energy 108" (Burlington‘s neoâ€" phyte dance music station). Barr is a White Oaks Secondary School grad (winner of the Principal‘s Award) and a member of the Red Cross Youth Council for the past three years. A London, Ont., native, he‘s lived in Iroquois Ridge with his family since 1977, but he seldom sleeps (we hear). "I love talking," he will say later, "and socializing and being with people". He likes to play pool; loves dancing. (He‘s 21, the world is his oyster). will pick up your bags of cut grass every Monday up until and including October 11th. He says this with a grin and asks, "Who said that? Wasn‘t it Benny Goodman or someone like that?" The 21â€"yearâ€"old with the flatâ€"top haircut just finished his first year of "Radio and Television Arts" at Ryerson. He even won a nifty TARA Award for his Red Cross public service announcement. His summer job is in marketing with a company called Health Promotions which manages the Nevada Lottery for 20 different charities like March of Dimes, Learning Disabilities, and the Gymnastics Federation. A relentlessly active and articulate guy, he answers the question (in part): "Music is my life". Â¥ COMPâ€"Uâ€"POST _Â¥ x COMPâ€"Uâ€"POSTX ere‘s a loaded question: What‘s a bright kid like Glenn Barr doing hanging around pool tables in bars and dance clubs, when he could be solving the problems of the world?
