As some people may remember, a good many critics didn’t think Saturn could do it. As some people may remember, a good many critics didn’t think Saturn could do it. Irnport owners, the critics said, had grown not only to love-their cars, but to trust them, to believe in them, and to purchase them with a loyalty unprecedented in any industry. No doubt, this view in part explains why Saturn USA only sold a mere 40,000 cars during its first model year. However, it doesn’t do much to explain why now, three years later, Saturn USA‘is selling that 0 many cars every few months â€"‘not to mention outselling Honda and other competitive imports on a per dealership basis. What. Saturn has become, amazingly enough, is one of those rare endeavors in history in whichthousands of people are truly focused on the same single commitment. Ask anybody at Saturn why the company exists and they’ll tell you: to beat the imports. IRRA will meet next month on Thursday, Nov. 4th, at the Swiss Chalet Restaurant; Upper Oakville Shopping Centre, start- ing at 7 :30 pm. However, IRRA will have t6 wait another month for a decision ‘ on the plaza site. IRRA will hold a public meet- ing before the recommendation goes to council to decide a ‘ course of action. BUSINESS DIRECTORY The association launched its second annual directory of neigh- borhood businesses last week. Gloves-and garbage bags will be supplied by the Town of Oakville, and Franklin urges everyone to wear long pants. IRRA will provide pop and cookies for volunteers after the cleanup. This week, IRRA president Kurt Franklin announced the Halton Board‘ of Education approved IRRA’s selection of “Iroquois Ridge High School†as the~name for the new high school. I The Town’s staff recommen- dation on the proposed develop- ment will not be available until Nov. ylSth, and it 'will ‘go before Town Council on Nov. 22nd. ' The Business Network of the Iroquois Ridge Residents’ Association â€" listing 80 small local businesses â€" will be deliv- ered to 4,500 households by next week.
