Not surprisingly, Westwood emerged as the consolation champiâ€" ons, defeating Clarkson 72â€"28 in the semiâ€"finals and Streetsville 66â€"60 for the championship. Oakville Trafalger High School lost both of its games. much anticipated college matchâ€"up between the two nationally ranked divisional powerhouses. "In the first half, they (Humber) had 23 offensive rebounds," said Sheridan coach Jim Flack. "You‘re not going to beat a junior high school team if you allow that." Much to Sheridan‘s credit, howevâ€" er, hey did "a hell of a good job" to come back and eventually pull even at 68â€"68 with five minutes left in the game before Humber eventually "‘closed out to win by 10 points." Although Sheridan‘s late rally didn‘t win the game, it did keep them in first place in the Ontario college loop‘s eightâ€"team west division. This Friday, Sheridan hosts George Brown which sports a 3â€"8 record but is "much improved" of late. Game time is 7:30 p.m. Last weekend‘s game attracted a near capacity crowd, thanks to the finals of the first annual Sheridan Cup high school tournament which also ran Saturday night.
