Syzan Talo, who has worked tirelessly to organize her neighbors, was unanimously elected president. George Henry and Tracey Bowie will serve as vice presidents. Other members of the executive are Steven Jenner treasurer and Jacqui Ellis, secretary. Twelve residents were elected to sit on the board which will keep an eye on education, planning, zoning and comâ€" munity services in their neighborhood. West Oak Trails residents, deterâ€" mined to get their brand new subdiviâ€" sion off on the right foot, voted for the first board of directors of the West Oak Trails Association of Residents last week at Abbey Lane Public School. WOTAR plans ‘Summer Sizzle‘ Some residents are concerned that they are paying higher property taxes than owners of similar homes in compaâ€" rable neighborhoods in Oakville. The event will cost $10 per houseâ€" hold and WOTAR directors will be canâ€" vassing neighbors next week for the Summer Sizzle as well as to sign up new members. Membership is free and the directors hope to enlist at least twoâ€" thirds of the households. A street party billed ‘Summer Sizzle‘ will be held on Saturday, July 9th on Trailview Road,1 to 5 p.m., with a barâ€" becue, music, face painting and clowns. But WOTAR does not see its funcâ€" tion as all work. Patricia Ianuzzi was elected special events chair and she already has plans to drum up some comâ€" munity spirit and fun this summer. Directors atâ€"large are Gerry Farah and Anna Racanelli. Sally Fairbairn is education chair, Andrea Southward will oversee commuâ€" nity services, and Philip Smith and Steven Munden are coâ€"chairs of zoning.
