I have had the opportunity to get close to and appreciate different cultures, races, religions, and ideas and have disâ€" (Continued from page 3) In my day dreams, I can almost feel the warm Pakistani sun on my back as I am out playing in my sanâ€" dals, and I can almost hear the sound of one of the religious leaders in town calling the people to prayer from the towns masjid (religious house), once the sun sets. My feelings regarding women‘s roles are completely different because I have been able to see the abilities of women and see that their roles are unlimited, a knowledge which I would not have gained in a small town in Pakistan. I have lived side by side with people of cultures that in Pakistan, I would probably be against, because I have seen how much I have in common with them. covered that however profound the differences that divide them are, they are really very much the same. Nadeem Elahi is a Grade 12 White Oaks Secondary School stuâ€" dent who submitted this essay for an assignment entitled â€" ‘Where My World Began.‘ My world is always reforming and changing ever yet, and will not stop until maybe some magical day when I discover that I am a Pakistani prince. Where did my world begin? Was it in Pakistan? Was it in Ontario? Also most definitely! But that is not the end of the beginning of my world because my horizons are still expanding like the universe. A day very much like when Aladdin discovers he is a prince at the end of the fairy tail, and that is where all the adventure ends and his life begins. I am the "prince" repreâ€" senting Pakistan and on one magnifâ€" icent day I will go back and report all my learnings. This image of Canada and how we all fit in has made my world and where it began seems very special and brings me enormous pride, both for Pakistan and Canada. When I was younger I would imagine Ontario as a secret country that was an experiment being conâ€" ducted by all the different countries of the world. That people had been sent to Canada as representatives of their own country, and that we as Canadians would not discover about this big secret until some magical day. Living in Canada has changed my world by bringing me to the underâ€" standing that I as a Pakistani, am not inferior or superior to any other person of my culture.
