Nominations will be accepted for the of fice of the mayor, town and regional council lors, regional chair and school board trust ees. Candidates may complete and file nom ination forms at the clerk's department at town hall from May 1 to July 26 during reg ular business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) and between 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 27. They must also live, own or rent property in the Town of Oakville or be the spouse of an owner or renter. The term of elected office will be from Dec. 1, 2018 to Nov. 14, 2022. The future seven-ward boundary system for Oakville (approved by council in Novem ber 2016) will be used to conduct the election and will officially be in place on Dec. 1, 2018. Changing the town's ward system from six to seven wards means the composition of town council will increase from 13 members to 15 (14 councillors and a mayor). More details including the seven-ward boundary map are available online at www.oakville.ca. Town staff also announced that a webi nar from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs on third-party advertising regulations dur ing the election would be broadcast in the council chamber at town hall on Monday, April 23 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The session is open to the public.
