Along with his wife M aureen and her close friend Pam Arnold, Pat Kahnert helped found Oakville Strokers. It s the only program in the Halton area that helps stroke survivors improve their independence and sense of well-being through therapeutic swimming, low-impact exercise and the making of arts and crafts. This year, with the help of many much need ed volunteers, Oakville Strokers will enrich the lives of 30 participants in each of three 10-week sessions. Pat notes: "Many people have been touched by a stroke experience, either their own or that of a loved one; it's wonderful to see how many in the community are willing to help." In 1995 the program will see support from Oakville Parks and Recreation, Oakville- Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, Royal Bank and many other concerned organizations. Pat works for Royal Bank in Burlington. He's just one of the many people across Canada who take time out to help their communities. And Ar^x we thank them for doing what they do.
