Halton Paramedic Ser- vices donated three decom- missioned ambulances to St. John Ambulance servic- es in Halton, with two vehi- cles going to the Burlington branch. "It's a wonderful dona- tion for us," said Tim Bauer, manager of the Oakville- Milton Halton Hills branch. "We use the ambulances as mobile first aid posts." The branch attends over 350 events each year, ready to assists participants, visi- tors and residents for any sort of medical assistance. "We take care of any- thing from a scraped knee to a heart attack," said Bauer. Before receiving donated ambulances from the re- gion, St. John ambulance volunteers attended to peo- ple on foot. Now, St. John ambu- lance will stock the vehicles with their medical equip- ment. The three ambulances are 2012 models with around 225,000 to 275,000 kilometres on the odometer. "They're well-condi- tioned vehicles," said region chair Gary Carr. "They have a life cycle of seven or eight years." St. John Ambulance will be at upcoming events like the Mac and Cheese Festival in Milton and the Highland Games in Georgetown.
