Let us do ours. http://www.facebook.com/ejadvisormarcnutford A court hearing that could determine whether Glen Abbey Golf Course owner ClubLink has the right to demolish the lo- cal attraction is scheduled to take place Monday, July 16 and Tuesday, July 17. The Town of Oakville initiated the court application to determine its rights and ju- risdiction with regard to the golf course under the Ontario Heritage Act. The measure followed a Sept. 25, 2017 announcement by ClubLink that it had filed an application to demolish the sitefiled an application to demolish the sitef (with the exception of the Raydor Estate and Stables). ClubLink is hoping to ultimately build 3,222 residential units at the site, including nine apartment buildings between nine and 12 storeys. The company also wants to build 69,000 square feet of commercial/retail space and 107,000 square feet of office space at the site. ClubLink officials have pointed out 50.11 hectares (54 per cent of the total site) would be made up of publicly accessible green space. The town took steps to protect Glen Ab- bey on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017, with Oak- ville council voting unanimously to desig- nate Glen Abbey Golf Course a property of cultural heritage value or interest under the Ontario Heritage Act. In meetings leading up to this decision, council heard considerable information about the golf course including a review by Ken Moodie, director of the golf course ar- chitecture and consulting firm Creative Golf Design. During the Aug. 21, 2017 meeting, town heritage planner Susan Schappert dis- cussed that review. "The golf course review concludes the Glen Abbey golf course has a number of key attributes including the 'spoke-and- wheel' design of the golf course, which is the designed layout of the holes. Therefore, the spatial arrangement of all of the holes and the relationship between them needs to be protected," said Schappert.
