The vehicles in question have been generally re- moved from residential driveways between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. The vehicles targeted in- clude: . 2014 to 2018 Lexus (mod- els: RX Series, LX Series, IS Series, GX Series) . 2017 Toyota Highlanders . 2015 to 2018 Land Rover (models: Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Evoque)Rover Evoque)R A review of residential se- curity-camera footage shows suspects approaching the residences on foot and using a device to defeat the vehicles' security systems. It appears that the tech- nology used may be access- ing the signal transmitted by the vehicles' key fobs. Once inside the vehicle, the suspects are able to start them and drive away within minutes of their arrival at the residence. Police are reminding the public of the following vehi- cle theft-prevention tips: • Park your vehicle within a locked/secure garage. *If a garage is not accessi- ble, park another vehicle in front.front.f • Ensure your unattended vehicle(s) are locked and se- cure. • Never leave spare keys in your vehicle. • Never leave spare keys outside your residence. • When not in use, place vehicle keys inside a radio frequency shielding bag/frequency shielding bag/f pouch to block cell signals. • Equip your vehicle with an alarm. • Equip your vehicle with a GPS tracking device. • Use other devices to de- ter thefts (e.g. steering wheel locking device)??.
