MITCHENER, Patricia Jane In the presence of her loving family, the death of Jane Mitchener, wife of Donald Mitchener, occurred on Monday, August 6, 2018, at her residence, on Darlings Island. Born in St . Catharines , ON, on December 2 , 1944, Jane was a daughter of the late William and Dorothy (Keating) Francis. She was a Home Economics teacher for several years in Toronto, ON, then owned and operated the Petals and Greens Flower Shop in Oakville, ON. Jane was a proud member of Beta Sigma Phi for more than 50 years. She was a past president of the Women's Wellness in Saint John and highly involved in the Run for the Cure. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. S a l v a t r i c e (Turina) was born on May 8, 1930 in Pachino, Sicily, a place she always cherished as a special part of her roots and family history. She is remembered as a loving and caring sister to Giuseppe (spouse, Carmela; daughter s Sy lv ia , Pat r i c ia and Lorella), Francesco (spouse, Maria- Teresa; daughters Anna, Josie and C a r m e l a ) a n d M a r i a ( s p o u s e , Carmelo Lentinello; daughters Lucia and Ivana). Turina is predeceased by her beloved husband Salvatore. They were wed in Pachino in 1948 and later followed their hopes and dreams to Canada - he in 1951 and she in 1952 - where they built a home in Toronto among cherished friends and family. In time, they welcomed a baby girl into their hearts. When they adopted Maria, they were finally able to form the family Turina had long dreamed of. Turina later moved to Oakvil le, Ontario where she lived with her daughter Maria, son-in-law Joseph DiDanieli and granddaughters Julia and Emily. There, she was able to enjoy being a devoted grandmother while being surrounded by family in the winter of her life. Turina will live on in our hearts and minds, and the lessons she taught us about family will remain her greatest legacy. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at Highland Funeral Home - Markham Chapel, 10 Cachet Woods Crt., Markham and the Funeral Mass on Friday, August 17th at 11 a.m. at St. Aiden Roman Catholic Church, 3501 Finch Ave. E, Scarborough. B o r n i n L a s h b u r n , Saskatchewan, he cherished his work with farmers in Saskatchewan, Ontario and Kenya. Beloved father of daughters Tricia (Hiley) and family of Australia, Glenna (Noad) and family and son Randy and family. He wi l l be fondly remembered by family and friends in Canada and Kenya. Beloved husband of Alda (Sproule) for 49 years, who was the love of his life until her death in December 1999. In his late 70s Lex began helping Kenyans find water and d ig wel l s , and s tar ted an organization called S.W.I.M. (Shallow Well International Movement). His passion helped many families without water to have a well of their own, providing sustenance in drought and famine areas. Many of the people he helped over his years in Africa attended a memorial in Nairobi and spoke of his compassion and how he touched their lives. Lex lived life joyfully and in service to others. He was also a wonderful father who made a lot of fun for his family. A celebration of Lex's life will be held at the Seniors' Center in Neilburg, Saskatchewan at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2018.
