He and his partners operated the successful South of Temper- ance in Toronto's financial dis- trict. After they lost the Bay and Adelaide location to develop- ment, they started the Landing Group of restaurants. It has now grown to nine locations in the GTA with Oakville's Harpers Landing being one of the first when it opened in 2013. "The property was a good op- portunity and myself, as an Oakville resident, recognized that Oakville was in need of a large, fun, upbeat urban envi- ronment with great food, wine and drinks," Altosaar said. Though Altosaar has moved on to operate Kellys Landing in Toronto, his chef from South of Temperance, Dennis Palma, continues to serve up a varied menu at the Cornwall Road res- taurant. Manager Paul Aubrey said as the original chef, Palma has a little more freedom to create dishes that might not be found at the other Landing Group res- taurants. Most entrees fall in the $15-$26 range, though you can find a Caesar salad for as lit- tle as $6 or a lobster fettuccine for $36. for $36. f Aubrey said though it's tough to pick a favourite, two that stand out are the Boss Burger (fresh Canadian beef chuck, panela cured bacon, jalapeño havarti cheese, caramelized red onions, sweet plantain, arugula, tomato, $19) and the lamb chops (served with sweet plantain mashed, market vegetables, and a red wine glaze, $36). Aubrey said the restaurant's seafood specials also set it apart. "Whether it's shrimp, cod, Arctic char or scallops, Chef Dennis pulls it off in a superb manner. It's really allows him to show his passion and his talent." The restaurant has seating for 226 people, plus an addition-for 226 people, plus an addition-f al 35 at the bar. A large heated patio seats an additional 160 peo- ple. "We can host almost any event, large groups, small groups, any day of the week," Aubrey said. He said the restaurant is ide- al for a business meeting, a ca- sual lunch or a quiet weekday dinner. It also serves a weekend brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Satur- day nights feature a DJ. "People do enjoy it and it cre- ates a good atmosphere," Au- brey said. The last Thursday of every month is Live at the Landing where a live band is featured and the second Wednesday of the month is Latin night, with live music and salsa dancing. To view the menu, or for more information, visit Harpers Landing's website, or follow them on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
