Operating under the motto "Let's Be In- credible Together!" Quassica provides pri- vate and group lessons in piano, voice,mu- sic theory, and composition. The school is located within the Oakville Arts Studio at 280 North Service Rd. West, Oakville, at the Northwest corner of Dorval and the QEW. Dimitar, an RCM Certified Teacher in Ad- vanced Piano, brings 30 years of music education and performing experience at the highest level of his profession to the studio, offering 42 weeks of scheduled lessons each academic year for students. These include preparation for exams, fes- tivals and auditions. Two public recitals are offered by the studio each year, one in December and June respectively. Each stu- dent progresses on an individual study pro- gram, tailored to their abilities and goals. During lessons, parents can stay in the Oakville Arts Studio's waiting area, sur- rounded by an ever changing display of art- work and tapestries, or drop their children off knowing they'll be immersed in the mu- sic program for the duration of their lesson time. "We love what we do, so we always have fun together," Dimitar explains of his time with his students. "With the hard efforts our students put in, we try together, we succeed together, we laugh, we work hard, laugh some more and in the end, nothing can compare with the satisfaction and ful- fillment music brings into our successful students' lives." Throughout the academic year, Quas- sica also offers their exclusive monthly Masterclasses where students learn how to perform in a student-only safe environ- ment within the Oakville Arts Studio's open concept area. "The piano is moved out of the lesson room and chairs are set out so that all students can attend," Dimitar ex- plains. Students of all levels participate in the Masterclasses, where they, along with Dimitar, provide feedback to each other and have their performances recorded for personal improvement. It is a unique part of the curriculum at Quassica, not offered at other music schools, and as such it is quickly gathering the attention of students, parents and music funding organizations. Dimitar is a proud successor of a long and formidable tradition of piano teaching and playing. His pedagogy lineage could be easily traced back a few generations to the likes of Beethoven, Liszt, and Czerny. He is still active as a concert pianist and chamber music collaborator in the GTA and beyond. He has also written music for theatre, film and the concert stage. Dimi- tar gave his first solo recital at the age of 12, and has performed in Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Greece, the UK, US and Canada. This successful performance ex- perience is invaluable and he brings it to each lesson and Masterclass. "We are planning many new and excit- ing initiatives in the near future," shares Dimitar. "Competitive music festival for instrumentalists from Oakville and sur- rounding areas; guest speakers at our Masterclasses introducing a wide variety of instruments to students; Summer Musi- cal Camp with an original musical, specially written and produced by myself and my col- leagues; Songwriting Lab plus an opportu- nity for a professional recording for aspiring singer-songwriters."
